2018-2019 Faith Formation Registration

Mission Impossible…IS POSSIBLE when we are in it together with and for Christ!

Each one of us, by our Baptism and reaffirmed by our Confirmation, is called to live our faith and to bear witness to the Gospel.  As parents, we also know we are the primary educators of our children’s faith.  Working together, parents and the St. James parish, will move ahead in 2018-2019 to make Christ’s mission possible.  Please indicate which ministry you will be volunteering with to help Christ’s mission move forward for our children.  We ask that you sign up for at least ONE volunteer opportunity, but would love to have you do more.  It does not have to be one from each category, just one that you would love to do and share in our faith formation journey.

Categories include:
Catechesis                                                                    Sacraments

ACTS OF MERCY (Service for Faith Formation & Families)

Faith Formation Service Projects:
Projects that are completed at St. James for various local or national organizations; hands-on opportunities that allow students, families and catechists to come together to work on large projects together (making sandwiches for local soup kitchens; making blessing bags, etc.). Looking for volunteers to work together to organize such faith formation service project events. Needs to be a team effort to organize and work together to plan.

Community Outreach
By contacting various local outreach organization, organize days for St. James faith formation families to volunteer at (not on Faith Formation day). Such examples would be St. James Day at Five Oaks Manor. Work with activities director at nursing facilities to arrange game day, bingo, etc., bake cookies on various days at the Geiger Hall kitchen and deliver as a group to police stations, sheriff’s department, fire stations, etc. Clean-a-park day (pick a park and have parish/faith formation go and pick up trash, rake leaves, etc.), help clean up St. James (plant flowers, put down pine needles, etc.)

MAKING CONNECTIONS (Social/Networking Groups)

Getting to Know Our Neighbors Group
Organize opportunities for parents to gather during Faith Formation to meet one another (or can be done in neighborhood, park, or another time at St. James…even Cabarrus Brewery). Volunteer with your child’s Faith Formation time to make it easier to organize teams (if you have more than one child in different times, pick which one is easier for you to commit too).

After Mass Gatherings (Coffee & Donuts or Chips & Salsa)
Organize monthly gatherings for families following Children’s Mass or Teen Mass on Sundays to get to know one another.

Sign-up for elementary school boundary teams (people that most likely attend a school in your area or live in your area; homeschool and private/Catholic school families can join whichever group is close to their neighborhood).
