Confirmation Preparation for Adults – NEW FOR 2016
Are you a Catholic adult (high school graduate and older) who has never received the sacrament of Confirmation, but actively practices his/her Catholic faith? Now is your opportunity to complete your full initiation into the Catholic Church. One must have received his/her First Communion. This 12-week class, which begins in August 2017, will explore 12 lessons on the Catholic faith helping prepare one in the Sacrament of Confirmation. Candidates will be required to all 12 sessions along with receiving Reconciliation, choosing a sponsor, attend Confirmation rehearsal and participate in the Sacrament of Confirmation in November 2017.

Confirmation for Teens
Confirmation Preparation does require two full years of religious education to be successfully completed to receive the sacrament. Confirmation Preparation at St. James is a two-year process that begins in the spring of one’s 7th grade year.
Confirmation Preparation Year 1 begins within the 7th grade faith formation year. It involves weekly and holy days of obligation Mass attendance along with attending two inquiry Confirmation sessions within the time/day of one’s faith formation class. Besides the two Confirmation sessions, students will be asked to complete two service projects: one project relating to the Corporal Works of Mercy and the other relating to the Spiritual Works of Mercy. Classes, Mass and other requirements are not optional, as they are required so that we as a church can properly prepare your sons and daughters in their sacrament.
Confirmation Preparation Year 2 continues from year 1 into the 8th grade year. Requirements from 7th grade must be completed for student to be eligible for 8th grade Confirmation Preparation.
Year 2 involves monthly preparation classes within the faith formation time/day scheduled, parent-candidate kick-off retreat, service requirements (2 Corporal/2 Spiritual), saint report, sponsor form, candidate retreat, summer mission, interview, letter to pastor requesting Confirmation. Once again, these are all required and are not optional.
Concluding the Confirmation Preparation process, students return for a final 4-6 session preparation along with attending a reconciliation service, rehearsal with sponsor and the celebration of the Sacrament itself with Bishop Jugis.
